Step by Step Wiring Guide

If you’ve got a tipper trailer kit and want to set up a remote control, you’ve come to the right place. While it might sound a bit daunting, we’ve got a straightforward tutorial to help you through the process.

Before we dive in, it’s worth noting that some electrical knowledge will be required.
If you’re not confident with wiring, consider seeking professional assistance. Otherwise, let’s get started.

Step 1: Preparing the Wires

First things first, get the wires prepped. We will be dealing with a few wires, so it is important that they are laid out and ready to go.

From the base unit, we will be needing the Yellow, Black, Orange, White, and Blue leads, with the Grey and Red remaining unused. You will also need to have prepared an additional wire.

Having these set out ahead of time ensures that no mix-up’s are made and that everything remains tangle-free.

Step 2: The Valve

Locate the valve, and remove the cover, start by connecting the additional wire to the right position in the valve, followed by the blue wire to the left position in the valve. Finish by closing the cover to the valve. Make sure they’re secure—loose connections can cause problems.

Step 3: Negative Terminal

Moving to the pump, take the other end of this additional wire, alongside the white wire from the unit, and connect them together with an 8mm ring terminal to the negative terminal on the pump.

Ensure this connection is made between the two nuts, following the example of the terminals that come pre-installed with the pump.

Step 4: Yellow Wire

Moving to the side, connect the yellow wire, to the left, outermost, terminal (when viewing from the front of the pump).

Step 5: Positive Terminal

Finally, connect both the black and orange wires to the topmost, positive terminal.

Step 6: Final Checks and Testing

With all the wires connected, take a moment to review everything. Ensure that all connections are tight, and there are no exposed wires or loose ends. Use electrical tape to wrap any areas that might need extra protection.

Once you’re confident everything is in place, it’s time to test the remote control. Turn on your tipper kit and try operating the remote. If everything is connected properly, you should see immediate results.

Wrapping Up

That’s it! You’ve successfully wired your tipper trailer remote. If you encounter any issues, retrace your steps and double-check the connections. Wiring can be tricky, but with a bit of patience and attention to detail, you’ll have your remote up and running in no time.

If you found this tutorial helpful, feel free to share it with others needing a hand with their tipper kits. And remember, safety first! If in doubt, consult a professional electrician to avoid any accidents.
